Problem:
Crab/lobster/fish traps are designed to catch and not release. If lost or abandoned, the traps will continue to fish because they are self-baiting (when the animals expire, they evolve into bait for others). Through a multiyear grant a research university documented the removal over 34,000 traps off the bottom of the Chesapeake Bay in Virginia waters. Data collected in the Chesapeake Bay showed lost or abandoned traps resulted in over 3 million crabs killed annually and an annual commercial harvest loss of over $5 million.
Our Solution:
A multi-purpose biopanel that has broad applications across a range of pots and traps and is 100% marine safe.
One of Marduks’s products is a failsafe against lost crab, lobster and fish traps (known as “ghost pots” or “ghost fishers”). Our products use our patented technology to prevent traps from continuing to catch and kill marine life.
Marduk Marine materials degrade completely into naturally occurring, environmentally friendly components. Our products address the ghost pots issue that depletes marine resources.
